Sharing the Aloha spirit with Ko Hana

We helped Ko Hana reimagine their brand through brand strategy while deepening their connection to their audience and to Hawaii while increasing online sales 400%.

The Challenge

Working with Ko Hana was a bit different situation than our norm - in the sense that even though they were very established, they hoped to make a bigger splash in the face of a worldwide pandemic. They weren’t seeking a rebrand necessarily, but a clarification and alignment to better tell their story.

A world struck by fear that is closing its doors to people, a key piece to a retailer’s success measure, is a scary world to conduct business in, that is if you can’t adapt or can’t keep an open mind.

Beginning with a facilitated brand strategy workshop, we helped Ko Hana take advantage of the pause in their normal business due to Covid 19 to help them redefine as well as refine who they were from a brand perspective. From here we were able to begin a new age of storytelling and customer appreciation through social media content, private online webinars, and online community gatherings.

As we helped define their brand voice and tone, we stayed on to consult and produce a social media marketing strategy that has outperformed any other marketing initiative the brand has ever done, pre-Covid.

The Solution

Sometimes the obvious place to start, is hard to understand.

What they needed was connection. Connection to themselves through refinement of their story, connection to Hawaii through that story, and connection to their already loyal fan base.

Tapping into to their community we increased the desire for what made Ko Hana special - connection. They were the brand that cared for its customers. A brand that wanted to be a part of their ongoing stories. A brand that was excited to celebrate everyone, with the best rum on the planet.

As we continued to push into the storytelling aspect of the brand through content, and maximizing customer buy-in, we continued to develop dominance in the Agricole Rum space. This led to amazing online growth and incredibly positive customer feedback.

As we crafted the Ko Hana brand story, we directed our efforts at content creation to better engage customers and potential customers online. We wanted to be the storytellers of this generation’s spirit.

This resulted in a 10X in engagement with their social media and a 400X increase in “Super Fan” sales.

Outcomes:

Increased online revenue by 400% during a worldwide pandemic. Increased customer loyalty by 75%. Increased repeat purchases by 33%. We received a 90% Customer approval rate during the brand shift and found that 90% of potential customers preferred new brand.
